St. Francis Mission Statement

 

The goal of the St. Francis School Athletic Department is to promote the competitive values of team spirit, leadership, and ethical behavior. SFS Athletics also focuses on creating an environment that promotes the positive personal development of student athletes and does not discriminate based on religion, race, ethnicity, economics or ability. SFS Athletics is committed to the whole school community and applies this mission and goal to all students through Physical Education and Mentorship.

 

Covid

Participation in sports and other extra-curricular activities is important for the emotional well-being of many of our students. St Francis School is mindful that participation in some sports during times of higher COVID transmission may increase the risk of spread within the community. During the time that masking is a requirement in school, masks will be required for sports participation when indoors or outdoors when sustained close contact with other individuals is expected.

The Armstrong Athletic Scholarship Fund

Participation in sports enriches children's lives in many ways. Children who play a sport for their middle or high school are more likely to feel a sense of school belonging. Academically, they out perform their peers who do not play sports, even through college and their early careers. Sports participation also reduces the risk of obesity, which has grown exporting meant chili across generations, and teaches children leadership, Cooperation, and self discipline. St. Francis has long Recognize the value of sports, offering fifth through eighth graders the opportunity to compete as a saint Francis Wolf and several sports. 
 
The school does not recruit top athletes from around the city, but instead encourages and supports participation among students of all levels of ability and experience. The sports program reflects Dustin's principles that the role of sport is teach children a life long love of being physically active, as well as the joys and responsibilities that come with being a member of a team. Many of Coach Armstrong's athletes going on to shine in high school varsity and collegiate athletics. His influence on our school and community and the lives of many of our students has been profound.  
 
In 2012, and athletic scholarship was funded in honor of Coach Dustin Armstrong. Named the "Armstrong Athletic Scholarship," the award honors Dustin's dedication and commitment to St. Francis students. The fund supports athletics and St. Francis School, specifically going toward athletic fees for families who otherwise would not be able to afford them.
